Dr. Satyendra Kumar

CTO Lanco Solar

Professor Satyendra Kumar is currently Chief Technology Officer at Lanco Solar. He has over 25 years of experience in research and development on solar cells and flat panel displays. He has contributed significantly to the physics and technology of amorphous, micro- and nano crystalline silicon solar cells. He is mentor to many young professionals pursuing solar energy research in different parts of the world.

Before joining Lanco, Dr. Kumar was a full Professor of Physics at IIT Kanpur and was also heading the Samtel Centre for Display Technology.

Dr. Ahmar Raza

Director, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India

Dr. Ahmar Raza obtained M.Tech. degree in Applied Optics in 1976 and Ph. D. degree in Physics in 1980 from IIT Delhi. He worked as lecturer in Physics Department, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi for six months after obtaining PhD. Degree. In 1984, Dr. Raza joined Department of Non-conventional Energy Sources as Senior Scientific Officer-I. He got his first promotion in 1989 and became Principal Scientific Officer. In 1995 he became Director in the Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources, renamed as Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in 2006. He is in-charge of off-grid solar photovoltaic programme. He has initiated wind power programme in the country in 1984. During the last 26 years he has also handled several programmes such as SPV pumping Programme, Solar Power Programme, Wind Power etc. Dr. Raza is a Life Member of Solar Energy Society of India and Delhi Science Forum.

Director, Solar Energy Center

Dr. O S Sastry is the director incharge of Solar Energy Center, Gurgaon. The Solar Energy Centre (SEC), established in 1982, is a dedicated unit of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India for development of solar energy technologies and its related science and engineering. To achieve its objective, the Centre has been working on various aspects of solar resource utilization and technology development in collaboration with other research institutions, implementing agencies and industry.

Dr. Vibha Tripathi

Dr. Vibha Tripathi is a graduate and PhD from IIT Kanpur. Prior to Saurya, she was working at the electrical engineering department at IIT(K). Dr. Vibha Tripathi specializes on the research and development of thin film solar cells and has held a number of workshops and seminars in the field of renewable energy. She has also guided many students in R&D of solar cells. Under her supervision, IIT Kanpur developed expertise in flexible organic solar cells, a unique idea which has a potential to be a disruptive technology.
