Hello Srinivasan,

It sure seems that you have researched the matter a lot! We are always happy to see people making an effort to understand and implement the technology and I will be happy to answer your queries. So first of all, I think may know this, NREDCAP is the one taking care of net metering, so you may want to direct questions to them about this. 1. ”Island Protecting”: For Net Metering, this is a required criteria as per NREDCAP guidelines. This will protect your SPV system in case the grid fails. 2. Feasibility: Your system is definitely compatible. However, you CANNOT have battery backup with the system of net metering to avail the subsidy as per what I understand. You will have to check on this. 3. Subsidy: The subsidy announced is actually 30% but only on the cost of panels, not on the entire system. You cannot avail the AP subsidy for off-grid system, unless there is another subsidy that they have especially for off-grid systems. Good thing is that you can avail MNRE or central subsidy on top of this subsidy. 4. Costs: This is a tricky part and you should be aware what you are buying. MNRE’s guidelines might not include installation which other companies might be charging. Also, many companies claim that they are giving subsidies but actually dont. Make not of warranty that they are giving you, extended warranty panels do cost more. Cost depends a lot on type of panels and the associated efficiency. If you do decide to buy the panels from us, we can match and give you a better cost, with a more trusted support! Let me know if you have any other doubts, I hope you get an amazing system at a great price and your society can lead as an example for others. Net metering allows you to sell excess (unconsumed) solar power back to the grid. For example, if on a given day you generated 20 units from solar and consumed only 18 units, the balance 2 units will be sold back to the grid. This ensures that you maximize your [savings from solar][1]. Click here for more information.

With the right size solar energy system, you can produce enough electricity to match your home’s electricity use for the entire year. However, the amount of electricity your solar panels produce will vary throughout the year. Net metering (also known as net energy metering, or NEM) helps you account for these differences by crediting you for the excess electricity your panels produce so you can use it later.

While net metering is not the only way that utilities compensate homeowners for going solar, it is by far the most common: as of 2016, 41 states and Washington D.C. have mandatory net metering rules, and two more have utilities that permit the practice. To find out the policies in your state, use the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency, which tracks net metering and other policies.
